There was a trial of a 22 year old guy that was in a deadly accident. They played his interrogation after the accident. Not arrested at the time, the cops just “trying to figure out what happened”.

The guy was SO worried about his cell phone.

“Well, we can get a judge and a search warrant but all that takes time. If you just let us take the phone now you'll get it back a lot sooner.”

“Okay - like when you're done with it? An hour??”

“Well, it won't be an hour, but as soon as we look through it to make sure you weren't texting or anything you can get it back.”

It was of course weeks later after he “let them look at it” that he got it back. In the paperwork he signed, because no warrant, the cops could look for ANY illegal activity that was on his phone.
