Lou Malnati’s pizza is great but my fav Chicago food is Chicago Italian Beef. YUM on steroids!

I love Chicago-style Italian beef. I had one of those sandwiches for the first time in 2001 when I visited an eatery off State St. in the Loop. They're hard to find here in Southern California.

An Italian Beef sandwich is a culinary masterpiece.

There was a movie star who ran a Chicago-style fast food joint in the Valley. They served Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian Beef sandwiches, etc.

One day he just closed up shop and that was that.

I'll have to start hunting for a new place.

I am in Phoenix, and Chicago Italian Beef isn't hard to find at all. Sometimes they are teamed up with Chicago Hot Dog joints. The serious ones use Vienna Beef and S. Rosen poppy seed buns. I think even Portillo's (large chain) will do in a pinch. There's one of those near Anaheim, and one near Riverside.
