CDC admits lockdowns, mask mandates and school closures may be fueling Strep A outbreak in the US

CDC said that increases in Strep A, flu and RSV cases are tied to lockdowns

...

Leading US health officials have finally acknowledged that pandemic restrictions they supported may have fueled a boom in respiratory bugs currently overwhelming hospitals.

Healthcare systems across the country have been pushed to the brink after an unseasonably high number of flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases with some pediatric units forced to erect inflatable tents to treat patients in parking lots.

...

In a statement to DailyMail.com, the CDC said it was 'hearing from some doctors and state health departments about an apparent increase in iGAS infections among children in parts of the United States, and is investigating this increase.'

...

The CDC does not track the infection the same way it does viral illnesses like Covid, the flu and RSV, though, making national infection and death figures unclear.

....

At Texas Children's Hospital, the state's largest pediatric hospital in Houston, doctors are reporting a four-fold increase in Strep infections this year compared to pre-Covid levels.

Doctors at Phoenix Children's Hospital reported an uptick in cases..

At Children's Hospital Colorado, officials reported that more children aged 10 months to six years old were being hospitalized than usual for Strep A complications.

The situation is being exacerbated by a shortage of amoxicillin currently striking the country.

The antibiotic is often used by young children sick with illnesses like the flu and RSV to prevent bacterial infections from emerging soon after.

Supply chain issues and a surge in demand ..

It isn’t a conspiracy theory if it becomes true..

Seems to me freepers were sounding the alarm on exactly this issue way back in the beginning..

Ya damn straight these damn lockdowns caused all of this. in the past month my 2 yr old nephew has been home sick more than actual school. He got RSV from school, gave it to his 7 yr old brother who til this day still cant get rid of the damn cough no matter what they have tried..then he got foot and mouth disease, seriously if you all think rona is bad, foot and mouth is 10,000 times worse, he had it in the mouth mostly, could hardly get him to drink, took almost 7 days for it to finally go away..now they have a flu outbreak at the 7 yr olds school..its non stop, and Fauci and his evil goons are ALL responsible for it!

Legally accountable don’t bet on it. I betting on one really pissed off parent doing the world a great favor.

Of course not..the virus was created for control..to secure that the Dems always stay in power..that is why Fauci and the Chinese Govt created this damn thing, and Fauci told them when to release it..go back and hear the words of Jane Fonda before the 2020 election, she said the quiet part out loud

Supply chain issues and a surge in demand caused by an unusually brutal flu season have left the drug in short supply across the US.

Another “conspiracy theory” turns out to be neither a conspiracy nor a theory. It was never really about public health. From now on, anytime the left calls something a conspiracy theory, you can bet it’s really a spoiler alert.

those RSV numbers are a sick joke since they’re based on actual testing ... probably for every one who was tested, 10,000 are sick with RSV without being tested ... everyone i know and everyone THEY know all across this country have been sickened with RSV ... and the current round of RSV is NOT a mild cold-like illness ... it’s going down into the lungs and making people REALLY ill ...

The 2 yr old got pneumonia from the RSV, but if it wasn’t for the high fever my sis would have never known it he barely coughed. The 7 yr old got RSV from his brother, he did NOT get pneumonia but both got double ear infections from it and the 7 yr old just cant stop coughing the only time he does not cough is when he’s sleeping its the weirdest thing its been over a month and he cant stop coughing they tried the manuka honey, does nothing..they tried giving him a steroid inhaler but the reaction to it was really bad so he cant have it..he took zithromax, nothing, amoxicillin, also did nothing so not sure what he needs to do to make the cough go away it sounds like he has mucus but his lungs are clear

Instant cup-a-bacteria
1. Strap a mask to a child’s face.
2. Wait an hour for moisture and bacteria levels to rise.

you could add an inhaled bronchodilator like albuterol or levalbuterol (which is a tad safer than albuterol) ...

also an expectorant like generic Mucinex, i,e., guaifenesin will loosen any mucus and make it easier to get it coughed out ...

cough could also be a lingering cough from initial infection and/or could be from lingering post-nasal drip ...

also, cough could be from lingering lung inflammation post-infection, which happens frequently ... one thing that has helped us and others we know with lingering lung inflammation is a couple of courses of azithromycin, because it has a powerful pulmonary anti-inflammatory effect, even if it’s not needed for a bacterial infection ...

Yeah the inhaled steroid gave him a horrible side effect..within seconds he started coughing uncontrollably my sis was so scared she needed to call the paramedics but he stopped..so he cant take it. He suffers from allergies(they have a husky in the house) he always does the usual sneezing and runny nose but I think when he got the RSV it did something to cause something in his bronchial tubes that he just cant shake off..he even coughs the same in school all day long they are used to it my sis told them he cant run during PE because of it. Every doc he sees says the issue is not his lungs but the bronchial tubes and it “takes time” I just dont want it to cause his heart to get weak coughing like that all the time
