Its probably a feint.

In WWII the Allies created and publicized a fictional First US Army Group for Patton (who Hitler respected), ostensibly located near the Dover Straight, to convince the Germans the eventual invasion would come at Calais

They then flew a Montgomery body-double in uniform to Gibraltar and around the Mediterranean, making the Germans think the allies were also scouting southern Europe sites for landings
