The new mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, said Sunday her administration will start moving homeless people from tent encampments into hotels and motels through a new program that launches Tuesday. […]

On her first day as mayor of Los Angeles, Bass declared a state of emergency on homelessness. She vowed to get people housed and more housing built so that residents can see a real difference, which hasn’t been visible despite billions spent on programs to curb homelessness, including $1.2 billion in the current city budget.

Bass, a Democrat and former congresswoman, has said she intends to get over 17,000 homeless people into housing in her first year through a mix of interim and permanent facilities.

An estimated 40,000 people are homeless in Los Angeles, a city of nearly 4 million. Homelessness is hugely visible throughout California with people living in tents and cars and sleeping outdoors on sidewalks and under highway overpasses.

Bass said outreach workers will try to coax people indoors. People are homeless for a variety of reasons, including mental illness, addiction and job loss. …

Maybe we can get these dregs (here in Tulsa) bus tickets to LA. Let'em know that LA has a hotel room for them. I need to forward this article to Tulsa's idiot RINO mayor. He gets all misty when he talks about our addicts living in the streets. He even went to Denver to find a solution.

Denver. That shows how stupid he is.

hotels and motels will love it...They get paid and rooms are full

The rooms will be destroyed and the property fouled - who’s going to pay for that? The City? The Mayoral Matriarch? Ain’t no way.

They are hyping this boondoggle on the local radio stations here in LA. Let me be clear, this will be an unmitigated disaster, these Hotel and Motel owners will LOSE everything when their properties are Trashed by the great unwashed. They are als0o hyping a plan to try and create “affordable housing”, this is the biggest scam that will end in massive failure I have heard.

In Los Angeles County, it takes a minimum of 1 year to get ANY permit and it costs at least $100K to get thru that process, then an additional $100-$200K to comply with said permit and secure the rest of the permits you need to build an outhouse!.

I just finished building my new house a couple months ago, I had to spend about $300K to get thru the Building Department process. Affordable housing is a big frikkin LIE and will never happen.

Put them in barracks and let them raise their own food. Of course they won’t do that, the homeless here don’t like the shelters because they can’t get stoned.

You can leave the “rebuild” part out.

I love it because some of the homeless in our city will go to LA for the free hotel rooms with Drug Dash and Uber Drinks and free wifi.
