Kate Winslet, 47, floated her opinion Saturday on the infamous “Titanic” door debate using her experience with paddle boarding while appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

The debate — which has been going on for nearly 25 years since the film’s release — first floated to the surface during the climatic scene of James Cameron’s “Titanic,” where Rose (played by Winslet) is laying on a shattered door leaving her love interest Jack ( played by Leo DiCaprio) to freeze in the water.

Several people who have watched the 1997 film have argued that if Rose had moved over, both she and Jack would have survived.

The director called her “Kate Weighs-a-lot.” But in 1912, it was probably stylish for a woman to be heavier than what’s considered ideal now.

The fiance did survive. He died years later, when the stock market crashed.

DiCaprio dying in the pool at the end of “The Great Gatsby” made the ending less tragic.

It is a horror movie. That is the correct answer.

And it’s still not the worst popular James Cameron movie...

If she had smoothed things over with the fiancee, Jack would have survived. The only reason Jack got locked up was because the fiancee had his ego bruised. If she had loved on him, Jack would have been an afterthought.

Sorry if my original post was not clear.

First: It’s a climactic event not one pertaining to climate.

Second: It’s an effing movie. People do odd things in movies.

Kate at her biggest was heavier than Leo, so maybe Rose should have let Jack have the raft.

On the other hand, maybe Rose knew what a jerk Leo would turn out to be, so maybe it was better that she let Jack die.

She had enough natural insulation to survive the water for a couple of hours.

And wasn’t the idea more that they should have take turns on the door or raft? Would that have worked? Or maybe they should have found a half-empty lifeboat maybe and used their star appeal to get let on board?
