Security personnel at Washington Dulles International Airport stopped a woman trying to bring giraffe and zebra bones back to the U.S. from Kenya, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The woman, who was not identified because she was not criminally charged, initially declared that she just had a small Acacia tree twig in her possession when she arrived at the airport on Nov. 17.
The small twig was fine to bring back to the U.S., but CBP agricultural specialists found the animal bones while x-raying her bag during a secondary examination.
Fish and Wildlife Service inspectors determined that importation of the giraffe and zebra bones violates the Lacey Act, which combats the trafficking of wildlife and plants, as well as other laws.
CBP official Christopher Brewer told Fox 5 DC that security officials have seized everything from charred bat meat to a stew containing iguana eggs.

Supposedly just the bones but “bushmeat” is still traded within the US illegally and spreads disease from places in African immigrant zones such as New York City. Big dealers break up the bushmeat imports among small, usually cult dealers or street vendors in African immigrant neighborhoods.
CDC (sorry but good summary anyway):
The term “bushmeat” refers to raw or minimally processed meat that comes from wild animals in certain regions of the world, including Africa and other areas, and may pose a communicable disease risk.
Bushmeat comes from a variety of wild animals, including bats, nonhuman primates (monkeys and apes), cane rats (grasscutters), and duiker (antelope).
Bushmeat is often smoked, dried, or salted (these procedures are not sufficient to render the meat noninfectious).
Bushmeat is illegal.
It is illegal to bring bushmeat into the United States.
Bushmeat, in any amount, found at US ports of entry will be destroyed along with any personal items that may have come in contact with the bushmeat.
Ebola is a rare and deadly disease that is spread through direct contact with the blood or body fluids of a person who is sick with or died from Ebola.
Generally, Ebola is not spread by food. However, in Africa human infections have been associated with hunting, butchering, and processing meat from infected animals.
Probably for divination or the practice of muti.
A clear overreach. Iguanas are not endangered. They have overrun Florida, when the weather turns unseasonably cold they fall from trees are caught and eaten. Chicken of the Tree
How did she get them out of Kenya?
Mmmmmm..dinner! 😋
A few years ago I was in a store in Europe and saw various exotic meats for sale—I think one was zebra. Packaged in a refrigerated container like you might find a package of ground beef for sale in an American supermarket.
“...importation of the giraffe and zebra bones violates the Lacey Act, which combats the trafficking of wildlife and plants, as well as other laws.”
If they’re just bones, they’re not animals/wildlife anymore. Law doesn’t apply.
What’s the problem? She admitted she had acacia twigs. She made no bones about that!
I wish I was from, Tijuana

Ha ha. I was just thinking of that crazy song; “Mexican Radio”.
Imagine the surprise if that cross-dressing non-binary Biden admin nut, Sam Britton, had swiped her bags.
