Kim Simmonds, co-founder and guitarist of Savoy Brown, has died at the age of 75. The news was confirmed today via the band's official social media pages.
"Please note one of Kim's last requests was to thank the fans of Savoy Brown," they said. "Your support was and shall always be immensely appreciated."
Simmonds announced in August that he had been battling stage-four cancer for close to a year. He'd been diagnosed with signet-cell colon cancer, a rare form of the disease that accounts for less than one percent of cases. It is often not detected early enough to provide an opportunity for recovery.

I was lucky enough to see Savoy Brown and Fleetwood Mac at the National Orange Show fairgrounds in San Bernardino back in the 1970s. What a show! RIP Kim Simmons.

For $8 at a local saloon and small concert hall I saw Savoy Brown with Foghat opening. Lonesome Dave was lead singer for Foghat at the time and Kim Simmonds came out for a couple of numbers before Savoy Brown took the stage. Heck of show. I hope no one minded me singing croaking along. Both bands were pretty loud.

Loved Savoy Brown! Their early albums were great—especially Raw Sienna. RIP Kim hope you missed the Hellbound Train!

His brother Harry managed the band and ripped everybody off. 3 of the 4 original members of Foghat were in the group before leaving.
Original singer Chris Youlden was great. Made two excellent solo albums.
