One of J-F-ing Kerry’s Purple Hearts was for a papercut size wound that was treated with a band-aid. One was for a wound that resulted from his using a hand grenade to try to destroy a cache of rice. He got rice in his butt. The standard for Purple Heart is for wounds resulting from hostile action. Friendly fire does not count, unless while engaged with the enemy, which he was not, unless a cache of rice is the enemy. His third was not nearly as minor, but he really was only entitled to one. The third was his ticket out of Vietnam, and his CO must have strained his wrist jumping on his transfer request.
That’s most senior government beurocrats.
