Reminded me of a story told by a 72 year old single friend.
He had an older Toyota Carolla that he took excellent care of. Always washed and waxed.
He had 270k on it and ran like a top. But decided to get a truck rather than depending on others to take his boat in and out of the water at the lake.
He went into the dealership and spoke with the salesman about trading in his car for a new truck.
The salesman could not believe the condition of the car, given the amount of miles. And called all the body shop workers out to the parking lot to look at it. They were impressed.
He traded it in, and bought the same truck you did, but last years model.
Being single and retired, his top priorities are, his truck, his dog, his boat. In that order.
He has already this past summer applied 30 coats of wax to his new truck.
When he went back to the dealership, his Carolla was inside the showroom on display.
On a side note, he told me a joke. How can you tell who loves you more, your wife or your dog?
The way to find out is too lock both in the trunk, wait 20 minutes and when you unlock the trunk, you’ll know who loves you more by who is happier to see you. :>)) )
On a serious note, our dogs always chose me over her. When we separated prior to divorcing, that dog never left my side. It's like he knew what was going on and he wasn't going with her.
He (Teddy) passed almost five years ago now. Still miss him terribly. The ex-wife not so much (though I don't wish her ill will.)
