Nice truck. I got over the excitement of a new car in my mid 30s (early 40s now). My sweet spot is picking up 2-3 year just off lease cars with 20-25k miles on them, drive them for 3-4 more years (adding another 25-30k on them) and then do another one. Pretty minimal depreciation that way. I still can’t get over how expensive trucks are so I stick with nice sedans (currently driving an Audi A5) but if you are still financially in great shape, good for you!

You and I think exactly alike. My "newest" cars have always been 3 year olds off corporate lease, 36k or under mileage. I'd drive them for a minimum of 9-10 years, keep them in good working condition, find someone who needs a good, reliable vehicle and give it to them, then purchase the next one off lease.

My vehicle prior to my Grand Cherokee was a 2003 GMC Envoy Denali. Perfect running order, no dents or scratches, some minor surface rust on the passenger side inside door seam.

Bought that off 3 year lease, put 110k on it, replaced the brake lines, rear control arm, coil packs and did a full tune-up on it, replaced the serpentine belt, cleaned the throttle body and washed it. It was fully loaded with every option and everything worked. (Memory seats, remote power mirrors, heated seats, Bose stereo, moonroof, roof racks & rails, tow package, everything.)

It went to a friends niece who'd been t-boned in her little Honda Civic. She spent 4 months in the hospital. Dad was looking for a SUV for her, wanting a larger vehicle to protect her, and my friend knew I was giving away my Envoy. She came with her dad to look at it. His eyes popped. "You're giving it away?" he said in disbelief. They took it for a test drive, came back, asked if I was sure. Went to the DMV the next day to transfer title to her, paid the sales tax ($25 in IL for the vehicle I was giving her) and she went home happy as a clam. Best part: she's still driving it. I freaking love that, and she takes very good care of it.
