P.S. Whether your ex will admit it or not, letting her and the kids have the new car for safety reasons was the right thing. She knew, she acknowledged it. It drove her bonkers that I never bought a new car for myself even though we could've easily afforded it.
I've lived my life being very financially frugal: just because you can afford something, doesn't mean you should. That was always my motto, drove her bonkers.
Best part about today: paying cash. Living frugally and below ones means pays off. Financially this doesn't hurt me at all.
