What a half-hearted defense.
“We understand that the weaponization of police is a prevalent problem in our community ... “
Not surprised that the black official would feed into the ‘police brutality’ ethos to his listeners ...
Not surprised that the probably very woke he/she/it/ze instructor is another overweight leftist female (I think) ...
Very surprised that the student is black female ...
This should have never been a police matter.
If the girl wouldn’t redo her essay, then flunk her and move on.
Just confusing as to why the cops were called in the 1st place.
Poor handling of the situation by the prof from the start, but the student’s behavior of course was inexcusable.
The stated “awareness” of the college seems okay as long as a parallel message of the lines that cannot be crossed without an escalation is also delivered.
Students should know what behavior is considered unacceptable, because too many from the college’s demographic came from schools where that was never made clear or enforced, and also that if either a professor tells them to leave or they find something from the professor unacceptable from their perspective, they should themselves leave — and if they have a grievance they can and should take that up outside of the class.
And there you have it. Why not support the calling of cops for the same reason for your inner city communities? Do they not deserve the same consideration? Do they not deserve to thrive? Do the residents feel respected and supported by gang members? Why aren't swift and appropriate measures supported when said gang members contradict those ideals? Effing hypocrites.
Aahhh, just enjoy the fruits of multi-culturalism - like on airlines.
The teacher rules in class.
If the teacher says “Leave.”, and you don’t...you’re trespassing and deserve arrest.
Entitlement 101.
I would love to know what was wrong with the essay to begin with. Was the professor, in fact, giving the young woman one last chance to pass her class?
This conversion should have been held in private to avoid embarrassment to the student; a calm discussion about just what exactly needed to be corrected by the student, and why. Then if the student created a scene in class, yes, arrest her.
There was poor communication leading up to the argument.
