I would love to know what was wrong with the essay to begin with. Was the professor, in fact, giving the young woman one last chance to pass her class?
This conversion should have been held in private to avoid embarrassment to the student; a calm discussion about just what exactly needed to be corrected by the student, and why. Then if the student created a scene in class, yes, arrest her.
There was poor communication leading up to the argument.

Well, if she is anything like the other rabble of woke Aholes, screaming at a potential speaker ‘cause he offended them; calling the coppers is the only resort left.

Working two weeks on a paper and then having 6 hours to edit is nothing. Either get to it or walk out. Making a scene in a classroom is the behavior of a bully. A whiny, narcissistic bully.

Grow the F* up, little girl. If you were working in an office and did that, getting all of six hours to rework is a godsend. Just do it.
