I cannot find any video of the actual failure. Must have been spectacular.

All of those aquarium tunnel tanks make me nervous, as cool as it must be to walk “underwater”.
Would the extreme verticality of the design be part of the problem?

Now the kids will just have to make do with the lobster tank at the local market.

Probably they will blame Putin, albeit indirectly.
A lot of speculation on the proximate cause of this incident is being focused on government requirements to lower the ambient temperature in the lobby to a very low temperature, due to the energy sanctions, the temperature fluctuations and the relatively high temperature of the aquarium is thought to have setup some sort of stress cracking of the glass.
So yeah. Putin’s fault. Lots of lawyering up going on right now.

Article says people were injured by falling GLASS. I'm aware of that. That's why I said that glass may have come from somewhere than the aquarium itself.

I remember a cellar bar in Marysville CA fifty five years ago in which you could watch swimmers in the motel pool next door .
One night someone drove by the motel and threw a stick of dynamite into the pool. AS water does not compress, the blast knocked out the window into the bar flooding the patrons.
Lucky no one was in the pool, and the bomber was later caught.
Wonder if someone dropped an explosive into this pool.
