US conservatives like Dinesh D’Souza are claiming that Paul Pelosi identified David DePape as a friend on his 9-1-1 call.

If D’ Souza says it’s on a police recording I believe it probably is as D’Souza is a pretty professional type guy.
I’ve read and liked D’Souza ever since he was a youngster writing in my subscription to National Review and the magazine stained my hands. He’s wrong here. There was some coverage about the dispatcher’s call for the cops to do a check on Pelosi, and it made reference to DePape as a “friend” becaue he was relaying, third person, what was said on the 911 call. But it was DePape who called himself a friend, in an attempt to ward off the cops during the 911 call. Pelosi never called him a friend, because he wasn’t; he was a complete stranger.
