Amen. I went into teaching later in life because my profession, computer programming, was being overrun by H1B's.

I wanted those jobs to go to American kids but wound up teaching basic math in physics classes - they couldn't do fractions much less exponentiation, logs, etc.

Went back to programming.

i’m right there with you. i’ve been writing software since i was 11, professionally since i was 18. i’m 56 now. i’ve been the CTO of 3x corporations, 2x in the US and 1x in EU.

the state of things in the US is a shambles.

i’ve asked adults, 22-40 yr olds, what 10% of $18 was... and only a small handful could answer the question properly. most common answer was “i’m not good at math” (!!!!). these were all wait staff making tips. how the hell could you not figure out 10% of any number?! i wasn’t asking 7.2%

so yea.. whiney and incompetent doesn’t get little johnny american the job.

this isn’t good.
