Wow. 6th grade is early.
How far did the students progress by the end of K-12?

I graduated High School in 1975. I had already taken Pre-Calculus & Trigonometry.

Same here albeit I graduated in 63.

This is not a recent phenomenon. Colleges have been having to offer remedial classes for years due to the government underwritten dopes that have been “attending”.

I graduated high school in 1977:

9th grade — Algebra
10th grade — Geometry/Pre-Calculus
11th grade — Trigonometry/AP Calculus I
12th grade — Statistics/AP Calculus II

I needed 4 math credits-algebra, geometry, probability and statistics- along with a research design credit just for a undergrad psych degree in the 1990s. It was totally doable prior to smartphones, TikTok and YouTube.
