However, the filming passenger Sara Radosevich stated in the accompanying tweet that a flight attendant snatched the cigarette out of the man's hands.

Smoking in-flight

I've seen airplane crash documentaries (I'm addicted to them) where it was noted that when smoking was common on airplanes mechanics could detect certain problems...potentially serious problems...by finding nicotine stains in areas where they shouldn't be. I clearly remember seeing one such video...but I can't recall the crash involved.

OMG OMG!!

How many decades did people smoke on planes?

I am not liking smoke on planes, it is just that this is treated like a major incident.

Apparently the planes are more combustible now as years ago you were allowed to smoke on plans.

Nicotine addiction is as bad as heroin addiction.

I recommend not booting heroin on the plane as well.
One can pack a lipper on the plane.

Hahah I’m old enough to remember smoking was legal on planes, and even can recall fiddling with the arm rest ashtray as a child to kill time.

Yep- I remember walking around d the malls smoking too. We smoked everywhere. Now they can’t even smoke in bars. We saw it coming when they started the segregation of smoking and non smoking sections of resteraunts etc.

You know the gig then. Yes, the stories of charter flight and the “royalty” never dwindle.

In high school we had designated smoking areas. It made for good relationships with the teachers and staff.

Before seeing your post and pic i was remembering a story i once read a long time ago regarding the guy who swapped out cabin air filters as part of his job.

He said in the story that it might be the most disgusting job one could ever do in ones life.
lol

I wasnt a smoker in school=- so i don ‘t remember if they had it there or not- but yeah- that woulda been a decent way to socialize with teachers and staff- I’ve been quit 11 years now, but STILL have dreams that i start smoking again- and in my dreams i think “Ah just a few won’t be bad, i won’t get addicted again if i limit it to a few a day” lol- thats’ the power of the addiction- i had to quit though- lung problems- i sure hated going through withdrawals- but i made it thankfully- unfortunately it was too late- breathing problems now-

My Latin teacher, (who was a WWII chaplain under Patton’s command) couldn’t make it through a full hour class without a smoke. We always got a writing assignment for the last 15 minutes of class.

I can still remember him running back into class and saying “hey you guys, President Kennedy’s been shot by a sniper”

They used to keep the smokers in the back of the airplane. I remember going back there to use the restrooms in a close of smoke. Never thought it was a big deal 50 yrs ago.

[[Nicotine addiction is as bad as heroin addiction.]]

I woudl say yes to that- or at least pretty close- 11 years after quitting, i still dream that I’m smoking-

The worst part of smoking is the quitting- lots of folks, myself included, just really dreaded going through the withdrawals- I ‘quit’ like 5 times before i really quit for good- and that was over the course of 10 years or so ‘trying’ I would have a patch on, chew nicotine gum, and still smoke- I’m lucky it didn’t kill me-

I quit 3 times before it took. It was almost a year before I stopped missing it.

My best teacher ever brought his thermos of coffee to every class. It was half coffee, half Jameson. My parents bought him a big bottle for Christmas. Best history teacher ever!

High School students are not children.
