Leftists are pretty good about short term gains, or even (seemingly) long term gains. The “long march” through the institutions certainly appears complete enough.
Except, now practically everything is broken, irrevocably, and the real party hasn’t even started yet. When it does, and it will, watch out. It will be like nothing ever seen.
In this particular instance (for example) there is a background of the military unable to meet basic recruitment and retention, not to mention following perhaps the most humiliating military debacle in living memory, if not American history, on the heels of “nation building” and stupid foreign wars draining the treasury and getting lots of good men killed and wounded.
This kind of thing only drives morale down in military, law enforcement, and other government agencies that have very difficult jobs and have been shit upon for years now. One thing that is important, something that Americans used to be able to count on, was their government would take a serious interest in their well being and safety, and had the stones to back it up with force when necessary. Even Jimmy Carter knew that, or strategists did at least.
Everybody now knows however, those days are long gone, there is no credibility with these grifters, they’ve no honor or any of those characteristics of integrity. You run into some kind of trouble, too bad. Political considerations are the only thing that matters. They can make anyone “go away” through the media and other techniques, if it stands in the way of important diplomacy or other pay to play operations. Prisoners of War during the Viet Nam war were among the first publicly known examples of that. Even into the 1990s - when opening up Viet Nam became an issue, they had to go through the motions at least, of official inquiries. They never GAF then.
Now, they don’t even have to hide their contempt. Or at least, that’s what they think.
