Lincoln banned religions, arrested priests, and confiscated church property? I missed that.
The CSA was the second most powerful army in the word. Right behind the USA. Europe armies were small in the 19th century. They sent reporters to cover the US civil war and they were mesmerized following the scope of the worlds first modern war.

When an entire church (the official church) is caught red-handed aiding and abetting Russian invaders - when their priests and bishops are busted with underage boys... when the entire, corrupt stinking corpse has never actually separated itself from the Russian Orthodox overlords (which themselves are part of Putin’s oligarchy support system) - the same Russian Orthodox that has been either in the back pocket of - or the main cheerleaders for the old Soviets -
And considering the unbelievable anti-Communist and anti-Russian sentiment that is palpable across the Ukrainian nation (I know - been there, have friends there) - I honestly cannot say I blame him for kicking that monstrosity out of the country.
Zelenskyy is not an angel, saint, or even particularly moral guy. Has he taken a heavy hand to outlets and orgs that have been clearly complicit in aiding and abetting Russia - yep. But Farah is now regurgitating the Russian propaganda almost word-for-word - and it’s pretty sad to see. I wonder how much he got paid for that?

Based upon the thread entitled “Tucker Carlson: Zelenskyy’s cabinet is devising ways to punish Christians”, numerous threads before that one here at FR, and where this thread will most likely be hijacked into going by Zeepers, arguments from Zeepers ultimately boil down to three things as they say:
A.) Putin has acted despotically, B.) he needs to be fought, and C.) he will invade all of Europe if we don’t fight a proxy war in Ukraine.
Problem is, concerning A-C.):
Zelensky, from reports by both the political left and the right has acted despotically in numerous ways since coming to power. And this is an important point since coming from both sides they thus aren’t partisan attack against Zelensky whereas the Zeepers here are partisans.
B.) Zeepers here are the same people that say we needed to fight in Iraq, say we need to fight Iran, said we needed to send troops into Syria under Obama/Biden, said we needed to fight Lybia under Obama/Biden, said we needed to fight in Yemen under Obama/Biden, say we need to fight now in Somalia, say we need to fight in Ukraine, etc, etc.
C.) Lastly, Zeepers here have no evidence that Putin possesses the requisite army that could possibly take and keep land outside of Ukraine, and they have no decent argument yet that Putin would attack NATO troops outside of Ukraine despite making claims on both.
And yet we can see the Zeepers here just want unending war and don’t seem to care that liberal Democrats are the ones who get the U.S. into more wars than anyonDemocr, liberal Dems on cable TV, RINOs in gov’t, and liberal Democrat voters have been Zelenky’s biggest supporters, funders, they have went over to Ukraine to shake his hand, etc, nor do they prove here at FR they are upset by any of this.
Zeepers have an insatiable desire for gazillions of wars, use emotional appeals on how bad Russia is (and how saintly Ukraine and Zel are when they aren’t), wouldn’t mind $500 bil or a trillion being spent in Ukraine, and don’t care Dems were behind the 2014 coup in Ukraine.
That's the typically-leftist ideological argument for the continued death and destruction of poor, mostly white people on both sides, rather than a national interest argument. "He started it!" screamed the 5-year-old. That's the essence of what you wrote. The China dragon quietly laughs out little spikes of flames.

In his case, he can flip to being against Ukraine, as he’s likely not on anyone’s payroll and/or doesn’t have personal contacts there.
Others, who still support Ukraine, know they’re on the wrong side, but they’re also trapped on that side.

That’s what’s really funny. Some of the Ukraine supporters are long-time FReepers who have NEVER sided with the Left...but on this one issue, they do.
As to myself, it would take a LOT of convincing to get me to support Biden on ANYTHING...and the ‘justifications’ spouted regarding Ukraine don’t come close.

I’ve said from the beginning of all this that Russia and Ukraine are two scorpions in a bottle.
IMHO, it’s similar to WWII. The both suck, but it was Russia who invaded Ukraine, and continues to randomly attack civilians. That was not a war crime in WWII, but it is today.
Russia is the greater villain in this conflict, but I think Ukraine is not worth the vast sums we are giving them. I don’t know the best way to penalize Russia. Perhaps bleeding their military IS the best way.
