I guess this happens more in fields other than engineering. In my classes was one White American (me) and one Black American (a guy from the Mississippi delta). Everyone else was European or Asian.
We didn’t want foreigners to beat us Americans and studied a lot. We wound up with the best grades.

The problem is infinitely worse than the article states. These liberals have no idea how much harm they have done to the public but also to the careers of competent minority physicians. Also many competent physicians have refused medical school faculty appointments or mentoring assignments because they know any good teaching that involves criticism of minorities or women is likely to hurt their careers.
My daughter was denied admission to Notre Dame with a 1310 SAT in 2002. She later met an African-American student who was wooed by UND with a 1200 SAT score. He knew nothing about the school but a black girl from HS who was going there passed along his info and…voilà…they flew him out to the campus for a special tour. Meanwhile my husband and I paid out of our own pockets for our daughter to make several visits there. Ironically, the black kid ended up turning down UND, lol.
In 1976 I was talking to a recruiter. He told me very bluntly that if I was a woman, black or better yet a black woman, he could get me interviews with any Fortune 500 company I desired. But as a white man he’d do the best he could, but not to expect many large companies showing much interest.
Over the course of my working life, I worked successfully for a number of smaller or local companies and did quite well, but I was never hired by a large American or international company.
