Some Sonoma County, California residents are concerned about mountain lions after one lion entered a house, attacked a dog, and dragged the dog by its neck into the backyard, KTLA sister station KRON reports.
The attack happened last week when a Bennett Valley resident left her sliding glass door open. The cougar targeted a border collie inside the house and the homeowners heard a commotion.
Video sent to KRON shows a snarling mountain lion standing over a motionless dog.
“A neighbor came over and fired a shot in the air,” neighbor Ron Crane said.
The dog was eventually rescued and survived.

“fired a shot in the air,”
Sheesh...in a sane world...
Maybe California should ban killing mountain lions. That’ll fix the problem.
The dog’s name was immediately changed to “Lucky”.
“resident left her sliding glass door open.”
I think I see the problem.
This has been known to happen. At the dog park in the Hollywood Hills area a pack of coyotes took somebody’s Labrador. Sad.
Geez, lucky dog!
Border collies are herders, not fighters
Bet it was screaming though!
Paging Casper...
Clean up needed in California.
Hard to believe the Cougar didn’t kill that dog INSTANTLY.
Another reason to carry. Protection against both 2 and 4 legged vicious animals.
Please,no shots in the air!
It must come down somewhere.
Timmy fell down the well
One of my buddy’s saw one last night just south of Virginia City NV where we saw some deer a few minutes before. It’s their place. 🐱
The shooter will be prosecuted, count on it.

It was Calif, you are not allowed to protect yourself.

Perhaps. When I was at Dugway Proving Grounds in the mid-90s, a woman let her puppy out to do it’s business. The puppy was killed by a coyote. The post commander sent an email to all living on post that they could not use a firearm to protect their dogs. A couple of days later a post security officer asked me if I had seen the email. I replied that I had and the office told me that post security would respond to any reports of gun shots but that I should be aware that they were busy people and it might take an hour or two for them to respond.
