The first Federal stimulus money also authorized Rural Fiber connections. The guy that installed my fiber complained he could not get it because where he lived, Kamuela was too Urban. Look up zip code 96743 and tell me that is urban.
They still have hitching posts at the Ace hardware store.
I have a good fiber connection and installed my own WAN system for my property. Cell service is no good here and regular phone was very unreliable. it goes out every time it rains hard. Guess what happens regularly in Hawaii wet side? Satellite had same problem.
Happy with fiber. I’d call it FTC but we don’t have curbs or sidewalks.

We that is good then, at least one connection to the outside world. Guess you could make internet phone calls too.
