Sticky traps were laid out. It revealed that there was a normal number of insects in the house given the time of the year.

Okay. ...But what about spiders? Spiders aren't insects.

I guess in the same sense that tomatoes are vegetables, spiders are insects?

And a ‘normal’ amount of any particular species could be a few thousand up to 10 or 20 magnitudes larger. Bugs do nothing on a small scale.
