Mississippi golfer bites off man's nose in argument over game, police say

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. - An argument between two men over a golf game led one golfer to bite the nose off the other in the parking lot of a casino, police said.

Mark Wells, 51, of Biloxi initially fled the scene in a Tesla before turning himself in, Bay St. Louis Police Chief Toby Schwartz said in a news release.

The nose was not found as the victim was taken to a hospital, WXXV-TV reported.

Bay St. Louis. I used to know it well. There was a restaurant on Hwy 90 called Annie’s that we used to go to. I also had an uncle who lived in BSL.

I remember Annie's from pre- and post-Camille. Nice place, with a dark interior and more of a lounge vibe than the usual beachfront seafood restaurants.

Back then, the nearest golf course to BSL was way down in Biloxi, behind the Edgewater Plaza mall. The Mississippi coast always had its share of characters, but nothing as unhinged as this.
