I think the local cops are only in charge of the investigation “in name only”. All four of them.
They brought in the Idaho state police and FBI within a couple days.
I would also think they are coordinating with the WA state police. Moscow, ID is right on the border with WA. Plus WA State University is eight miles away in Pullman, WA.

I was thinking about that. Washington state at Pullman being right across the border. When I was 18 and a senior in high school I took a trip to Pullman to see if I wanted to go to college there and it happened to be in March when the St. Patrick’s Day weekend was. All the kids from WA State we’re going over to Moscow to drink because you could drink when you were 18 over there and they had green beer. So I’m sure there’s lots of interaction between the two colleges even today.
