I’ve actually been accused of “whataboutism” by leftists on threads the last few months. It’s their new ad-hom attack. In my case, I said that there is nothing wrong with whataboutism when it is on topic. It brings perspective to the original question.
And what I found comical about this one is that the democrats he’s bringing up are not “former office holders”. And it’s not about who they had dinner with. It’s about what they actually said themselves. Ater all Ye, et al are complex human beings. The label attached to them regarding Jews is not who they are. It’s an accusation and also, even if true, is only a part of their persona. It doesn’t mean that if you meet with them, the topic of discussion is how to kill jews. It may be to argue sports, or talk about any number of topics, even grandkids.
i.e. there is no there, there.
That is true. If Ye, for example, were actually the anti-semitic character his recent speech implies then all of the people who associated with him, and did billions of dollars of business with him, should also be judged for their interactions with him. Obama endorsed Ye, and posed in photographs with Ye, and Adidas did hundreds of millions of dollars in business with him.
