One just stumbled into a trial period of Sirius XM.
Any recommendations?
Astute political/historical/current events talk programs?
New music? Contrast with the same stuff on the FM dial... all genre considered...
Comedy, just for fun, etc, lest one lose one's sense of humor listening to the news?
I finally learned to enjoy both.
There is a broadway musical channel I like as well.
I discontinued my Sirius XM subscription earlier this year because of the harassment I kept receiving from their billing people. I had a free 1 year subscription when I bought my car, which ended in January. February was the first month I would be paying for the service. A few days before the bill came in the mail, I received a recorded phone message saying that the bill would be arriving, and asked me to promptly send in my payment. Okay, no problem. I always pay my bills as soon as the come in. The bill arrived, and I put a check in the mail the following day. That same day, I received an email saying my payment was past due. The following week, I received a phone call saying they still had not received my payment. I verified the check had cleared, called them up, gave them the check number and the date they cashed it. A few days later, another email arrived saying payment was past due. When the bill for March arrived, I put the check in the mail the next day, and received a phone call the same day saying my March payment was overdue. I called them up, told them the bill had just arrived the previous day, and my payment was on the way. Two days later they cut off my service. I called them again, they apologized and said they would restore my service. I told them I no longer wanted to do business with them, and wanted to cancel my subscription. They tried to offer me a reduced price, but I told them I wouldn’t take their service if they offered it for free. My advice is to stay away from Sirius XM.
31. Tom Petty. It’s not just his stuff.
Blues on Channel 74, if memory serves (haven’t changed the button since 2011).
I’ve had XM Radio from the beginning and have never given-it-up. I’m a “Real Jazz” fan but I also enjoy classic Country and classic R&B. It never drops out while driving like AM and FM stations. If you can afford it, get it you’ll like it!
Don’t do it. Pay attention to your subscription. They’ll up it month after month if you don’t look at your statement every month.
Holiday Pops
Radio Classics
EWTN
Catholic Radio
40’s Junction for Saturday morning bacon cooking
YachtRock Radio
Deep Tracks on channel 27 is not new music, but is seldom heard tracks from established artists. In many cases it is music I had not heard before. Primarily artists from the 60’s & 70’s. Now and then some 80’s depending on the DJ. Besides no commercials, I like how the DJ’s essentially create each show from their own record collection.
Outlaw Country
Andrew Wilkow 12 pm est channel 125
Just get it. Not quite a 24/7 listener but darn near...
Something for anyone and lots to explore, if you like music at all you’ll be very pleased. The talk and other garbage, I just ignore. Plus you get access to hundreds of online streams (the old Pandora plus more) for free. There must be over a dozen Christmas channels, if you like that sort of thing.
Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar and The Whistler.
Channel 148 - Old Time Radio - is my traveling companion. I’m pissed if all I get are comedies, but some are OK, like OMB, which is a gas. Not quite up with a five part Johnny Dollar but nothing makes the miles fly past as quickly and the performances are amazing. Such a shame so little remains, but there are a few modern productions, Like Harry Nyle...
I was just guessing about him being on Sirius XM, but apparently he’s there. Per Wiki...”He has broadcast on Sirius XM Satellite Radio since 2006.”
We had the free intro to Sirius when we bought our Ford, but didn’t sign-up at the end of the freebie. I wouldn’t listen to Stern anyway.
If you want it dirt cheap, do nothing for now...as your free trial ends, they will start sending you prices for subscription...
If you wait long enough you will get it for 6.99 a month... It’s worth that price
The Bob Bailey episodes are the better ones.
Whistler is another really well written series.
There is one called The Whisperer. Light hearted crime drama fare.
The Nile shows are also another favorite.
Total waste of money.....for me.....but if you have to have it, get internet only digital access....then negotiate them down to a lower price......
True about Bailey. I’ve never heard Amos & Andy on the channel.
“Get Spotify. Much, much better.”
How so? I had a free year of Sirius XM with a vehicle purchase, so I have been enjoying it. I’m a Gen X-er.
So far I’m enjoying the following channels:
- Patriot, (Wilkow, Levin, others)
- 50’s on 5
- Lithium
- New Wave
- Classic vinyl
