I was on this flight, it was terrifying. I thought we were going to crash after we started descending once we took off, no announcement til we touched down and the captain was pulled from the cockpit. There was a flight attendant and doctor doing chest compressions and using an AED. The pilot, who was 54 did not make it. They got us a new plane and we made it to Columbus at around 2 am.
You were on THIS American Eagle Embraer 175?
Yikes 😳😳😳
Glad you made it!
Whoa, sorry you had to go through that and glad it ended without further incident!
Glad you made it okay.
One good thing happened today.
All praise to God.
One thing jumped out after listening to the entire tape:
The check pilot did not declare an emergency. So he had to endure multiple frequency changes while trying to fly the aircraft and keep the dead weight of the pilot off of the controls
He answered several questions that had already been asked and answered. And a minor mistake was not informing the passengers that they were descending to return to the airport.
But, I’m nitpicking. The check pilot was cool as a cucumber. Just listen to his voice.
He knew that the pilot was dead. He didn’t stop the aircraft except to switch seats and taxi to the gate.
ATC has never crashed an aircraft, but many distracted aircrews have.
That’s crazy.
