Generally speaking, no.

The cameras cant dynamically just shift over to good sectors outside the 32 GB of formatted memory they are able to recognize.

In fact, it may not recognize the larger memory card at all. I had someone this week who bought an old digital cam, for example, that can only recognize a card 2 gb or smaller. They tried a 4 gb card and the camera couldnt detect it.

So generally no, exceeding the memory card limits does not work, the limits are there for valid technical reasons.

They simply seem to go bad after a while.

That is a characteristic of that type of memory. It really does wear out.

Seems great but NO instructions

Provide power to the unit. Insert an SD card. Point the lens at the road in front of you.

Thank you.

Indeed, I have done that. I should power up the other unit and at least make sure it works (lol). I’ve had them both for about 3 months now.

There was an instruction to format the card. Perhaps I should do that on the PC first. I think it has a slot for that.

I installed it in a rental vehicle but have not wired it in one of my cars yet. Each of them (different manufacturers) also has the rear-view cam as well.

In all seriousness, a dash-cam can save your bacon. The fuse blocks in some cars have spare slots for after-market devices. Routing the wire can be a real challenge. I suspect they don’t include instructions because every car will have its own routing needs. My son got a shop manual for his card; and, that provided clues to where wiring channels were located.

I had a nudging feeling telling me to get one 6 months ago

A gal backed into my car on a city street - no cameras at intersection

I would NOT let her go and dialed 911 - the police didn’t want to come but I told them we were blocking traffic (we were) and there was no shoulder (there wasn’t).

I was NOT going to move the cars before the police arrived. Fortunately she admitted fault (I was impressed by that) - but still can’t get parts for my late 1990’s car - which really sucks). I bought TWO dashcams after that - but both of my cars pretty much down now - they are drivable but one has that front-end damage. Still trying to find parts.

Oy vey

Junk yard has a hood but I can’t deliver it to the shop - plus ya gotta pay which is more difficult now that I’m not working - when I was working - even part-time, it was hard to have time since I worked overnight and slept days.

I going to attempt to move forward on one car this week.
