My Dad lived on planes in the 50s when it was like that. I didn’t fly commercial until Thanksgiving 1970. Even by then, it wasn’t that nice. There was still first class, but everybody smoked and there were no No Smoking sections. Not that it mattered. It was like asking for the No Chlorine end of the pool. But fares were regulated so planes weren’t very full, the stewardesses were nice, young and cute, and you got a real meal with real silverware.
Sigh.
Hey, the very same stews are still working to this day.
Really rare to find a flight attendant under 50 these these days on some airlines.
