Senior Irish Twitter executive secures temporary High Court injunction against termination of employment

An Irish-based senior executive with Twitter has secured a temporary High Court injunction preventing the social networking giant from terminating her employment.

The order was secured by Sinéad McSweeney, who is Twitter’s Global Vice President for Public Policy.

She claims that by not responding to a generic and vague email sent to all Twitter employees by its owner, multibillionaire Elon Musk, earlier this month, she has been treated as if she is no longer employed by the company. […]

Mr. Musk, she claims, has since the takeover been running the company “in an unorthodox manner” and has been rehiring and firing “with no apparent logic” in a manner she claims is unlawful.

At the High Court this afternoon, Mr. Justice Brian O’Moore granted Ms. McSweeney an interim injunction preventing Twitter International Unlimited Company from terminating her contract of employment.

The injunction, which was granted on an ex-parte basis, also restrains Twitter from applying the terms of an email sent to her on 16 November last by Mr. Musk, to her contract or condition of employment.

She further secured an order restraining Twitter from communicating to any third party or publishing any information to convey that her employment with the company has been in any way altered since the 15 November last. …

If Twitter is removed from Ireland, what’s she going to do?

I’m sure that Twitter has the right to terminate her position and her employment with the company. They certainly are giving terminated employees plenty of paid time to find new employment.

These leftists told people who didn’t comply with experimental injection mandates that they had voluntarily resigned if they didn’t comply with the newly-invented working conditions by the specified date, and nobody had any recourse. Existing law and employment contracts be damned.
Now they have a problem with being fired the same way.

Yeah but the next job won’t be as cushy with all the perks of sitting on your ass drawing top dollar for nothing. God forbid them having to do a real job and do real work.

Keep her locked out of the system and send her a formal letter that she has been found redundant and her services are no longer required. In my non-lawyer opinion this would meet the UK’s labor law requirement.

“In my non-lawyer opinion this would meet the UK’s labor law requirement.”

Dublin, where the woman was employed is in Ireland which is not part of the UK. Ireland is a member of the EU so her employment is governed by Irish and EU laws and regulations. The UK is no longer part of the EU.

While a few counties in Northern Ireland are part of the UK, Dublin is the capital of independent Ireland so is not governed by UK law.

I have no knowledge of Irish or EU labor and employment law so I cannot offer an opinion as to this particular case.

Well, I don't get the wrap. Looks like one of the cheap $2.50 Wal-Mart blankets I put in the car to keep ice off the windshield.

I suppose now I could go to this same judge and get a ruling that the NBA has to give me a contract AND guaranteed minutes on the floor. Later on, I will revisit this judge and demand that the really tall players (everyone but me) stop blocking all of my shots and laughing at me.

“ The email asked employees if “you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter please click yes on the link provided.”

“Anyone who had not done so” by 17 November “will receive three months of severance”.

She should have clicked Yes
