its a 300k house he is renting. so rent should be over $1000 a month. Walmart store managers make a lot of money but I dont know what underling managers make

Not much. About what lower level supervisors make in other jobs plus a little for working in retail through the COVID epidemic and a couple bucks for working the graveyard shift. It will probably not go up much from now on.
He was paranoid, though, and a little delusional, according to some comments from coworkers and other acquaintances. Maybe he sold some drugs.

Absolutely no way he’s paying $2k rent and buying all that bling PLUS weapons on his salary of an estimated $3.5k gross per month.
There’s much more to this story. I suspect he had a side business of ‘found’ Walmart merchandise and one or more of the victims were going to rat him out.
