Perhaps her attitude changed with the pigtails.
Good waitresses with a good attitude can do well.
A dear friend of mine did very well in tips for many years.
She was an all around people person and down to earth type.
I would take her over the over made up types of now.
I agree. It is part looking good and part acting nice to the customers.
When she started wearing pigtails she started being less glum. After a few good tips she started being really being happy and that changed how she interacted with the customers.
“What the hell do want to order” changed to “Hi, how can I help you”.
Something like that.
Truth!!
My airline opened a new base and I got transferred. It takes a while to get it up and running so I didn’t work for 6 months - I got a waitressing job to combat the boredom at an upscale local Italian restaurant and was SO TERRIBLE but the tips rolled in. I forgot to give a table their check for about 30 minutes and gave them a $20 on top of it as an apology. They left $100 on top of my $20 for a tip. I remember one elderly woman took a couple of women out to lunch so she could talk about her trip overseas but they were only interested in the free lunch. I was all over her pictures and loved her stories and she left $50 IIRC.I was so giggly and giddy, I think people thought I was ‘slow’ and felt sorry for me. I made money hand over fist, never leaving with less than $75-$100 and no one could figure out how I made so much.
Fun Fact: the restaurant was in a very stately, large mansion that was built in the late 1800s/early 1900s and was haunted!!!!
