If you had ever read the Bible you would know that Jesus tells most of his lessons through parables.
One should thus expect God to relate truths the same way.
OH I do read my Bible daily... sometimes more than once a day. Going through it right now...
Yes Jesus taught much of His truth in parables....but Noah lived.. and yes there WAS a FLOOD.That is history.
I agree that the Bible is God’s word to us and uses stories to tell us truths. Genesis is not a science text. However, many times Jesus references accounts of the OT (such as Noah, Jonah, etc.) and discusses them as actual accounts.
Related perhaps - he was also quick to point out how some of the things in the O.T. the people got wrong - or at least clarified things and expanded on them. Such as “though shall not murder” is a good commandment, but it even means not to hate people - even one’s enemies.
The accounts in Genesis form the foundation to understand the rest of Scripture.
We have creation, man and woman, sin and its consequences and God making a provision for their forgiveness.
