On October 24, 1972, my geology class at Occidental College started at 9 AM, PDT, so we held a party to celebrate the creation of the earth. NBC sent a camera crew, and we were on the evening news.

On an unknown date in the summer of 1958 I started a brush fire that required firefighters from three counties to control. I hid in the basement, top shelf, behind the canned fruit. The fire was on the Colorado Springs news, but I was not.

I was seven, but not unaware of consequences.
