Almonds make up about 70-80% of her nut mix bowl.
I was headed to Type 2 diabetes with the B$ of/re eating a lot of carbs to now eating basically zero starch based carbs. I have no lab problems now.
We have real meat/protein 3 times a day, starting with smoked Alaska Salmon, to some form of turkey or chicken sandwiches or plain for lunch. Dinner includes veggies, a green salad and 4-8 oz of real protein (fish, fowl, beef, lamb). We have basically 3 sit down meals per day. Snacks from her countertop are whenever we want a snack.
My various lab values are now in the normal range for several years. That is not bad for an 84 year old guy.
My wife describes our dietary life as basically the Mediterranean diet with about 8-10 ounces of wine each evening or a semi Keto eating guide not a diet. Fresh veggies and fruit are served at each meal or on her counter top.
