RE: Iger resigned IMMEDIATELY in late January 2020 as Covid-19 was becoming obvious.
I’m not interested in what Iger did to maximize his personal wealth. I am more interested in THE DIRECTION he plans to take the company from here on.
Many FReepers have observed that this current CEO who took over Iger cannot be blamed for Disney’s woes. He was only continuing Igor’s policies that were in place even BEFORE the pandemic.
Heck, in some cases, Chapek if anything was more reversing some of Iger’s policies (case in point, how Pixar threw a hissy fit on how Chapek effectively blocked some controversial programming such as Red).
Iger should NEVER have returned. He’s Disney’s worst CEO ever, worse than even Eisner. As bad as Eisner was, including creating Gay Days, at least THAT guy still was smart enough to avoid politics whenever possible (heck, part of the reason Miramax got cut off from Disney was because of them forcing Disney to promote Fahrenheit 911 despite Eisner not wanting Disney to take any political stances). Actually, I’d even argue that Iger is a good indication of how Disney would have gone had Katzenberg actually GOT that position rather than ended up fired, as Katzenberg is as much of a political animal as Iger, especially for the left.
