I love me some turkey, dressing (which I am making tomorrow evening to bring to my Thanksgiving gathering), mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, corn…I grew up on all of that.

I don’t like mac & cheese and it was never part of our Thanksgiving dinner when I was growing up. I think it’s kind of a new thing?

Mac and cheese I believe is a standard African-American side dish at Thanksgiving.

We had Thanksgiving #1 last Sunday because sister’s daughter was home from school before going to Banff this week. So the host for Thanksgiving #2 decided we are having lasgana since some of us already had turkey. Not everyone is happy about this. Last year it was stew. I’m beginning to think our hostess just doesn’t want to do a turkey.

I think this means I’ll have to do turkey for Christmas.

Our family always served a side of sauteed mushrooms with the feast. I’ve added Brussels sprouts gratin instead of green bean casserole (which I like but it needs to be zhuzhed). And I like the canned cranberry sauce (not whole berry either).
