Two problems with the original plan. She didn’t want to do any actual work, and being a working royal means duty as well as pageantry, and not always on your schedule. Second, she thought she would be able to manipulate herself into a position of ordering other people around, underestimating the power of 1,000 years of rules and traditions. When she couldn’t even bring herself to curtsey to the queen when walking down the aisle in her virginal white wedding giwn and veil, she revealed all. And yes, she seethes atKatherine.

It's not so much Kate the person as the protocol of respect for Kate's position that MM resents. MeMe does not understand their system, does not understand the entire concept of respect, nor that William has been understood to be a future King since the moment he was conceived. Likewise Kate has been carefully watched by the public to determine if she will one day make a suitable Queen.

Early on, Kate was criticized second only to Camilla; but has finally gotten a break due to the example set by Meghan. Finally the UK public is grateful for Kate and praises her conservative dress, manners and emphasis on being a wife and mother. (The many poor whites and insufferable leftists in Socialist UK have resented those choices, and the privilege that affords them.)

Sparkles, as a brash American with a chip on her shoulder, thought she could elbow Kate and William out of the top spot by making herself and Harry more "popular" with the general public. She confused royalty and its obligations to serve the people, show up at hospital openings, cut ribbons, behave diplomatically with foreign leaders you may privately despise, etc., with celebrity, fan adulation, self-indulgence, and a steady stream of public relations stunts.

For an ostensibly smart person, she's pretty dumb.
