Now that Merrick Garland appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith to investigate President Trump for the Mar-a-Lago documents and his role in the events of January 6, shouldn't the Republican led Congress KEEP the January 6 Committee?
Of course, the Mar-a-Lago documents are a JOKE since the Washington Post just admitted that there are no very sensitive documents and they even claimed Trump kept them for reasons of ego but nothing nefarious.
As far as President Trump's role in January 6, it seems there is a bit of double jeopardy here since wasn't he already tried for his during his Second Impeachment trial in the Senate? Okay, leaving that aside, the best way for MAGA to push back is to investigate what REALLY happened on January 6 by KEEPING the January 6 Committee. Merrick Garland wants to investigate Trump's role in January 6? Okay, let the NEW January 6 Committee investigate the role of the FBI and/or other intelligence committees into their roles on January 6. That would also include an investigation into the pipe bomber on the night on January 5 and why, despite video evidence and pings emitted from the pipe bomber's cell phone, the FBI still hasn't found him.
I know the general consensus was that the GOP would let the January 6 Committee expire when they took control of Congress but this appointment of a Special Counsel changes everything.
First people to subpoena would be Ray Epps, Merrick Garland and Chris Wray.
Absolutely, but change the members and mission, of course...the mission should be to find out the truth, not save MSNBC and CNN’S asses.
I think it’s an excellent idea. Then they could bring in the exculpatory evidence that the democrats and rinos suppressed.
If they keep the commission they necessarily need to change the makeup of the commission since Liz is gone. I personally don’t care about the commission or Jan 6th. I haven’t seen anything that tells me out nation was in grave peril. An unarmed “insurrection” isn’t even on the level of the dial-a-mob riots the Left calls upon.
The Republicans should absolutely keep the committed going, make the committee 50/50 Republican/Democrat and put some real Republican Fighters on the committee.
Let the dig into the pipe bomber that has never been caught.
Let’s see all the video from that day not just what the FBI/DOJ want the public to see.
Let’s find out why the National Guard was not deployed.
Bottomline, do a complete investigation not a political witch hunt.

When Trump decided to run again his status changed from a septuagenarian private citizen in Florida to a presidential candidate. The current president has stated that he wants to run again so they are adversaries. The DOJ and FBI who are under the control of the current president can’t investigate because of conflict of interest. Can the Congress investigate him? Not sure they can. Certainly Congress and their Jan 6 committee could be seen as interfering with the investigation of the Special Council.
You don’t fight to win. It should be 100% Trump supporters. They should subpoena Trump and let him have the floor just before the elections and Trump should give the best campaign speech he’s ever given for 2 hrs. Repukes better learn to wield power as well as the Rats.
Remember when Jan 6 Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson said that Ray Epps had already been interviewed and that they would release his testimony sometime in the future? Well the future is coming up again this January so RELEASE the Ray Epps testimony!!!
How about freeing the J6 hostages. That should be priority #1.

No, you need Democrats on the committee just make the contrast and compare with Republicans who are running a real investigation versus the pontification the Democrats will do.
Tough luck. Appointment of a Special Counsel was strictly for POLITICAL reasons. With a new Jan 6 Committee investigating the FACTS of what REALLY happened that day, it is going to make the Special Counsel "investigation" look ridiculous when the REAL FACTS are revealed.
The J6 are political prisoners.
Their release should be #1 priority with the GOP, but it won’t be because the GOP is equally abhorrent to the democrats but for different reasons.
If not, I look forward to filling our prisons with Democrat politicians.
Why did the FBI purposely show a key pipe bomber video at about 1 frame per second when video cameras aren’t even made to be that slow?
