Critical Race Theory and Freudianism
American Thinker ^ | 16 Nov, 2022 | Walter E. Block

These two concepts are rarely if ever mentioned together. Yet they have more than just a little bit in common, none of it good.

Critical Race Theory (CRT) maintains that in all cases in which blacks fall behind whites (or Asians, who do not figure heavily in this theory), the causal agent is racism on the part of whites. For example, blacks do poorly compared to whites with regard to employment, criminality, family formation, intelligence, wealth, income, health, and much more.

The cure? Whites should abjure racism. This is difficult, to say the least, insofar as CRT also maintains that to be white is to be a racist, per se. It is highly problematic to expect white people to give up being white.

What is Freudianism? This is the theory that people's psychological debilities stem from childhood, particularly from their relationships with their mothers. It employs a whole host of techniques to ward off psychoses and neuroses, including identification and analysis of the Id, the Ego, and the Superego; dream analyses; free association; and much more.

Let us now consider what Critical Race Theory and Freudianism have in common.

They are both closed systems, irrefutable under their own respective terms, no matter what evidence arises that might falsify their views. Take Freudianism first. If someone were to object to this entire enterprise, pointing out, perhaps, a low to non-existent cure rate, this would be rejected out of hand on the ground that the critic is exhibiting psychiatric debilitations in his rejection of this theory. He is psychologically sick; otherwise, he would not be criticizing this perspective.

Anything viewed through the lens of Critical Theory whether it’s race,economics,history,mathematics,language,et al will always yield a leftist result. It is because critical theory (developed in Germany by leftists) mandates it

or the causal agent is bad choices by individual blacks.

individualism + free will + objectivity is the remedy for collectivism + determinism + subjectivism

Only since the mid 60's when the Black population decided to go back to the demonrat plantations and live back under the slave masters that promised them their daily bread and to take care of them.

Sorry. But human behavior is the result of biochemical reactions in the brain which are mostly dictated by genetics. The brain is 90% phospholipid and human thought is a function of lipid metabolism. Just how those fats churn in a given cranium and make higher intellectual and even reflexive human actions possible is simply not known. Social theories and even the Freudian dialectic have never been proven to explain or even accurately describe the complexity of human thought. However it has been known that alcohol, drugs and trauma can disrupt human brain activity.

“Whites should abjure racism.”

I submit that the burden falls squarely on the Left.

“... no matter what evidence arises that might falsify their views...”

~~~
This phenomenon is not exclusive to freudian ism or critical race, and maybe they didn’t mean to say it was, but I would say it is ubiquitous. There is probably a name for it. It’s in everything we see these days. Particularly in the social/political realms.
How often have we heard the phrase “trust the science” or “the science is settled”, which science almost never is settled, and it is code for not disputing the premises of policy. Think covid19 or climate change.
When I had to study psychology academically, I always thought Freud was a freak, particularly with the weird stuff like oedipal complex or penis envy and the like. However, as I get older, I do tend to agree that people’s formative years have a much more powerful shaping of their deep psychology that they are consciously aware of. But I still will never forget how obvious it was that this field of ‘science’ was no science at all. Just camps of ‘theory’. Even research psychology, with all it’s scientific method, get get pretty murky in it’s theory.
I don’t know that they are even trying to strongly associate CRT with science, except perhaps in how they package it, but suspect 90% or more of those who have to listen to it just nod and patronize
Another way of looking at the problem of CRT and Wokeism is to understand that its proponents are members of a kind of cult (in psychological terms, a "mass formation"). It is like a lynch mob that first coalesced in numbers around the ideology of collectivism/socialism/communism in colleges and universities and then spread to the adult world when students carried it with them upon graduation.
This "mass formation" grew more powerful by building a moat around itself to prohibit any speech or ideas that might challenge it. By prohibiting free speech, it created a massive echo chamber that reinforces the brainwashing and indoctrination of those on the inside until they literally are blind to any opposing ideas.
The "mass" demonizes outsiders with simple, sometimes vague denigrating euphemisms. They are "haters, racists, fascists, deplorable, irredeemables, etc."
Here's the real cause of that (the elephant in the room no one wants to talk about) ...
