I would agree to ones picked naturally when ripe. We had them a lot on 2 trips to Cancun from a big fruit market. Amazing smoky flavor.

Old story. I was born in Anaheim, CA. My parents bot a brand new home there. Must have been an old Avocado Tree grove...
We had a big Avocado tree..was great for climbing...but dropped leaves and Avo's all the time...and it was my job to pick the leaves up..and the mussy avocadoes up. I hated that job....And we never ate them either......Weird huh.
Well that tree was cut down..and my parents built a swimming pool.
