We’re seeking an experienced systems administrator who’s eager to use and grow his or her technological skills in a challenging environment. In this role, the ideal candidate will protect our critical information, systems, and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, be available as a resource to the helpdesk staff on issues requiring escalation, and assist the Director of IT in developing an overall IT strategy. From early on, you’ll take ownership of projects that will challenge you, and require you to expand your skillset. A successful System Administrator will have a security-focused mindset and understands the importance of following best practices, and documentation.
Responsibilities:
Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, database systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware
Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative
Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide 24/7 up-time in a production print environment
Enable faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful insights
Maintain the health of internal and external backup systems in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and data retention policies
Collaborate with network analysts and helpdesk staff to resolve issues affecting end-user productivity and ensure business continuity
Perform provisioning of new servers, decommissioning of end-of-life servers, and maintenance and upgrades on existing servers
Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, the configuration of roles and services, monitoring of event log warnings and errors, and ensuring security patches are up to date
Perform above administrative tasks on additional systems, including on-premise phone systems, SaaS platforms
Monitor the MITRE Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) Database and the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) vulnerability catalog, and ensure timely patching of relevant systems
Perform server hardware maintenance, including firmware upgrades, troubleshooting, and resolving issues relating to performance, connectivity, and redundancy
Make recommendations for changes to the current infrastructure
Interact with the help desk and networking teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root causes, and provide technical support when needed
Perform routine/scheduled audits of backup systems, including routinely testing restores of files/folders, SQL databases, and full VM images
Requirements
Key Requirements:
Understanding of core networking concepts, including IP Addressing, Subnetting, VLANs, Routing, Switching, and Access Control
Expertise with VMWare ESXi, including performing upgrades, maintenance, and configuration through vCenter Server Administrator, VMWare CLI, and vCloud Director
Expertise with the administration of Azure Active Directory, including hybrid environments and Azure AD Synchronization, and Microsoft 365 services
Expertise in Cisco UCS blade servers, Cisco routing, switching and security appliances, and Cisco Call Manager
Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Experience/Education:
3+ Years in a Systems Administrator role installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Servers in a VMWare environment
Extensive experience maintaining and troubleshooting Active Directory domains, including administration of users, computers, and groups, permissions, group policies, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Authorities, Remote Desktop Services
Experience utilizing Powershell scripts to perform advanced administrative tasks
Experience configuring, maintaining, and testing enterprise backup systems – specifically Veeam Backup and Replication Suite
Experience with SQL Server maintenance and administration
