Brings to mind the Virginia Tech massacre of 2007.

Off-the-scale crazy Korean kid who was previously ordered by a judge to receive treatment, was ignored or lost to follow-up and allowed to be until he bought a lot of weapons and killed 32 persons, injuring another 17.

Long premonitory history of stalking, acting crazy in class, having imaginary friends, etc.

Of course everyone's fear of calling out a protected crybaby minority person led ultimately to the massacre.

If he had been white he probably would never have been admitted to Virginia Tech. He might be incarcerated or committed. He might even be better and mainstream. Not to mention the other 32 people in the story.

Cho’s family considered him fairly crazy. Also his sister was an academic whiz and graduated from Princeton while he was struggling at VPI. I do believe he was ignored and cut slack as a ‘minority’.

Cho was only able to attend college because they treated him as having a disability. He was a voluntary mute.
