ORLANDO, Fla. - Florida residents lit up social media on Saturday after hearing the sound of sonic booms and not knowing what caused them. Turns out, Boeing's X-37B – an autonomous spaceplane that spent over 900 days in space on a U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force mission – had secretly returned to Earth.

No secret one. Plenty of nasa missions were tight lipped military ones, ones that weren’t discussed much. Military routinely had a presence on regular nasa missions.

This is an uncrewed one. It’s a long duration probe that has pretty good delta-v for it’s size and can land on a runway like the old shuttle but it’s massively smaller.
There are good conspiracy theories out there that we do have some advanced bomber tech out there that can do Mach 5 and that we have some really good stealth tech that we have not shown off yet.

Why didn't they land it at Johnston Island and fly it home in a C-17? The did not want it to be a secret.
They could have landed it in Guam or any number of other places.
