Alec Baldwin filed a lawsuit a year after the Rust incident. According to court documents, Baldwin seeks to “clear his name” after the accidental death of Halyna Hutchins on the set of his movie.

People obtained the legal court documents of a cross-complaint filed by the 30 Rock actor. The lawsuit reads, “More than anyone else on that set, Baldwin has been wrongfully viewed as the perpetrator of this tragedy.” The cross-complaint named on-set armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, first AD Dave Halls, property master Sarah Zachry, and weapons supplier Seth Kenney, accusing them of negligence. “Baldwin has also lost numerous job opportunities and associated income,” the lawsuit reads. “For example, he’s been fired from multiple jobs expressly because of the incident on Rust and has been passed over for other opportunities, which is a direct result of the negligence of Cross-Defendants Gutierrez-Reed, Halls, Kenney, PDQ, and Zachry.”

I do too, but the culpability is across several people, including him.

Did Hannah pull the trigger and kill someone? No.
Did Dave Halls pull the trigger and kill someone? No.
Only Baldwin aimed, fired, and killed someone.
Were the other two negligent in their duties? Probably.
Were the other two the director and producer of the movie? No. Baldwin was the man in charge of the entire fiasco.

The entire production was a safety s**** show from the getgo. But he was in charge, the gun was in his hand, and being an ignorant narcissist he didn’t bother to learn the rudimentary function of the weapon and slip fired it. Any cowboy shooter of modest experience could have done a better job with weapon safety.

He will never clear his name.

For one thing, HE is the one who pointed the gun at her and pulled the trigger.

And as director, HE is the one responsible for all the actions of the cast and crew under him.

He killed her, no matter how much he tries to justify himself or rationalize away his responsibility for it.

Did you see the Hunter Biden Rule posted next to it?

It was in the background of one of the scenes just before they start shooting. I didn’t notice it, but my son did and pointed it out to me.

That said, actors trust armorers and the other director on site who both cleared the weapon on set before handing it to him.

And this case is an example of exactly why that should never be the case.

Anyone handed a gun should be trained in gun safety and their own responsibility to check it and clear it themselves, and to exercise proper gun safety protocol and NEVER point it at someone they don’t intend to shoot.

You can’t trust others to do what they are supposed to because we are all human and all make mistakes. If this was even a mistake.

Fifty? That’s a conveniently round number. Not 49? Aren’t .45 Long Colts sold in 20s or 50s or bulk? But there just happened to be an even 50? Really?

If he had been on his way to the Ford Theatre, to do for Trump when he saw the re-staging of Our American Cousin, he’d be hailed as a hero. It’s all the armorer’s fault, for mistakenly handing him the Ford Theatre gun.

He picked up the gun. Failed to check it. Pointed at another human and pulled the trigger. He failed gun handling 101.

At a minimum, it’s involuntary manslaughter.
