I think many people who would like to run choose not too because they either have something embarrassing in their past that they are afraid will be revealed, or they don't have a critical mass of intelligence, charisma, and determination to see a candidacy through.

I believe we need to breed a generation of kids that goes through life with no skeletons in their closets and are properly trained in the virtues to have what it takes to make it through the election process.

I also believe that those who decide to run will need to run on a populist platform rather than something more libertarian or socially conservative. This is where the votes of independents and moderate liberals/conservatives can be had.

Interesting. The big money guy supporting DeSantis, Griffin, believes just the opposite. Says that Republicans need to break away from populism and go back to embracing big business. Maybe his definition of populism, yours and mine are different.

As for skeletons and living a “clean” life. Not sure about that one. I’d rather have someone that got themselves in trouble a little bit and dealt with adversities, than some Country Club, frat boy that has been groomed for politics. If you’d like to see some of that, feel free to venture down to the State House when the Georgia legislature is in session. You’ll see plenty of them. However, most of them aren’t living “clean” lives, their groomers are powerful and/or wealthy enough to sweep everything under every rug they can.

they don’t have a critical mass of intelligence, charisma, and determination to see a candidacy through....then they shouldn’t be running for anything and those traits will quickly reveal themselves. However, even that doesn’t matter at times as I think there were two Democrats elected on Tuesday that are DEAD. And have been for some time.

As for the embarrassing stuff, very good point. I think that’s what keeps alot of folks away and I think that’s what kept Pres Trump from putting together a better Cabinet. Some of his picks were going to get grilled and put under a microscope. Something they didn’t want or need. Either the incumbent they’re trying to unseat or the other opposing candidate is gonna dig. Have to be comfortable with what they find, because they will find something. Or just make it up like they did Judge Moore.

Agree. That determination is a hard one. Who wants to put up with all the focused lies and evil that is rained down on a candidate (a non Deep State one).

I note that many politicians are raised like you suggest. Only this is done by the liberal elites or politician parents who can afford to buy their kid out of trouble and cover up any ‘embarrassments’ as they grow up. They are sent to schools of like mind so they have the ‘network’ of classmates to count on.

Romney did this, but leveraged Mormonism.

Meanwhile, good, conservative, logical, moral kids are just kids and grow up with a ‘vulnerable’ life. Hershel Walker - Georgia Hero with flaws, and look how he is characterized.

At this time, it appears that if GOD does not ‘call’ a person to run for office, it will be a disappointing failed vain exercise.

And even if He does, that does not mean the country will be rescued. Somewhere down the line (it seems close) is the end!
