An ultimatum like this is not unprecedented. Former Mayor Thomas Menino sent a letter to Chic-Fil-A, telling the company not to open in the city because of their views on same-sex marriage.

This kind of out of control government is Un-American.

Could the theft, violence and high rent be a consideration?

Government cares little about that.

Let the local government, as well as the people that voted for this enjoy the fruits of their vote.

If Walgreens had the spherical objects, it would announce that it has no intentions of opening any new stores in Boston, and will be considering further closures there as necessary if the government continues interfering with its legitimate business activities.

Walgreens should just release a statement that no more Walgreens stores will open in Boston until Boston is in the top 15% of Safest Cities in the US, and Walgreens will continue to close stores on the basis of Safety as necessary.

The city should just open their own stores. I mean if it is because of racism and all. Then the “people” can enjoy the profits.

Have Rite-Aid open the new stores, then Walgreens buys the Rite-Aid stores. Walgreens has a habit of buying Rite-Aid stores as they are not allowed a buy out.

Alternatively, wait for CVS to apply for a license in a location that was near one denied Walgreens, then charge anti-trust.

The council plans to use their legislative powers to stop Walgreens from opening any future stores in the city unless they halt the closures. An ultimatum like this is not unprecedented. Former Mayor Thomas Menino sent a letter to Chic-Fil-A, telling the company not to open in the city because of their views on same-sex marriage.

This is called fascism.

Interesting what City Councilor Brian Worrell lists as life’s three priorities: “Their food, their medication, their COVID vaccines.”

They might succeed in forcing them to stay open, but good luck getting a pharmacist to work in a war zone like that.

What irony:
* Democrat government lets rampant crime go unchecked.
* Stores close because they cannot sustain the losses and insurers raised rates or dropped them.
* The very same Democrat government that caused the stores to leave now threatens those stores that they cannot leave.

SOLUTION: Build state-run pharmacies and drug stores with empty shelves. Let the people there enjoy their communism to the fullest.

Maybe if ghetto trash didn’t steal so much, the stores would stay...

This kind of crap make >insert product name< deserts.

What is so complicated about running a prosperous city? You need law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, and jails to stop crime. You need trash and snow removal. You need well maintained roads. You need sewage, water and utilities. You need schools. That leads to crime free, clean neighborhoods with businesses that employ educated people.

I have no idea what nirvana Democrats are going for when they spend tax dollars.

the criminals in those areas stripped these stores from the residents along with the Democrats politicians who refuse to stop the crime.

“We are talking about predominantly working-class Black and brown communities that relied on Walgreens for many, many years,”

Well maybe if that predominantly working-class black and brown communities respected those shop owners and didn’t keep abusing them by robbing them blind this might not have been an issue.

Without the three locations, the council believes pharmacy deserts will be created. They say the majority of residents in those areas don't use cars to get around.

If you don't have a car and don't have a grocery store nearby you'll have problems. Pharmacies, not so much. There's buses and the subway and the delivery option.

"We are talking about predominantly working-class Black and brown communities that relied on Walgreens for many, many years, " said Worrell.

He could have made his point without dragging race into it. Oh, wait ... America 2022, he couldn't have.

This might also be an opportunity for entrepreneurs to get involved. But maybe shoplifting is so common that nobody dares to open up a new store.
